It's a beautiful day in Northside... drop in if you're out enjoying the lovely afternoon. We've even got a special consultant working with our window displays... (He said he's an expert but seems very distracted by the birds.)

Quiet day. The store greeters take a break in the east window while a nearby human worker sorts books on classical music and jazz.

THE CATS ARE HERE. We're spending the early night finding the food dishes and water dishes, the box in the special cat room, and the stairs. Carpeted stairs are fascinating. Also railings, which heads fit through but bodies do not. Also windows from which we can see a different street. Also being able to go in one door and come out another. And the new house purrs, then shoots warm air out of the walls. THIS IS WHAT HOLIDAY CHEER IS ALL ABOUT, PEOPLE.

Have a merry from Logan & Nierme.

Have you been in since Renaissance and Medieval History had to be moved to another bookshelf because we added so many titles? How about since all the Raymond Queneau, Haruki Murakami, and Christopher Moore showed up? And about a shelf of plays, including both Wilsons and Soyinka? Most importantly, HAVE YOU WISHED LOGAN HAPPY BIRTHDAY? He's 7.

Take pride in your loves. We'll be proud to support you.

We've got some lovely 19th-century surprises for you, from popular poetry titles to self-help and anti-atheism tracts (remarkably similar to each other) to a somewhat preemptive History of the United States dated 1835. Also lots of recent plays, reference works for Finnegans Wake dorks, and some nice, crispy Twain paperbacks.

Logan also wants me to tell you that he is desperately lonely and neglected and hasn't been admired properly for more than an hour.

Someone must realphabetize the cats. Alas.

The cats love the new place - it's bigger, so Logan can get going really fast before failing adorably to make the tight turn from the History aisle into the Science room, and it has better windows, which means Nierme can bask in lots of places.

Though not much of a partygoer, Nierme would love it if you would come and rub that one spot under her ear in celebration of her fourth birthday. Dangling shoelaces, crumpled paper balls, and other games would also be lovely, but mostly, she needs some serious admiration. We mustn't let her think that Logan is the only one with a fan club!
