Patrick Rothfuss

AUTHOR EVENT - APRIL 21 - 7:00pm.

Patrick Rothfuss, the author of The Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear will be here to sign, read, and A some Q's. Arrive early to ensure seating; this event is likely to draw a substantial crowd.

Besides having made the New York Times bestseller list and having drawn praise from The London Times, The Onion AV Club, Ursula K. LeGuin, Orson Scott Card, Robin Hobb, Anne McCaffrey, and many (many) more, Rothfuss routinely receives such accolades as "The fantasy world has a new star" (Publishers' Weekly).

Facebook users, click here to confirm your attendance and to invite your friends. Spread the word! This event is on Thursday next, and we want to make sure everyone who wants to be here knows to be here.

(Click here to read the wonderfully kind things Pat and his fans have to say about independent bookstores - and also to read his transcript of our hilarious scheduling call.)

Author Event Signing: Patrick Rothfuss - 21 April 7PM

Mr Rothfuss recounts the story of how this came about far better than I can (and I'm kind of squeeing about the whole thing, mind you), but this thing, it's really happening here. Nialle and I will definitely be here for it. It's short notice, but spread the word, bring your friends and your books. This is going to rock.

Upcoming Event: Local Children's Book Reading and Signing

We are very excited to announce an upcoming reading at the Haunted Bookshop. Local authors Michelle Edwards, Claudia McGehee and Jacqueline Briggs Martin will be reading from their new books, The Hanukkah Trike, Where Do Birds Live?, and The Chiru of High Tibet, on 14 November, 2010. There will be a signing with the authors following the reading, and frosted book cakes.

Because who doesn't love books and cake?

On Sunday, May 16, author Erin Hart will read at the Haunted Bookshop from her new book, False Mermaid (Scribner, 2010).

The previous books in the Nora Gavin/Cormac Maguire mystery series, Haunted Ground and Lake of Sorrows, followed the work of an American pathologist and an Irish archaeologist investigating deaths in ...Ireland. The author's rich knowledge of Irish culture and history, combined with the taut suspense and mesmerizing atmosphere she surely mastered during her theatrical days, make each book a page-turning and vivid experience. Haunted Ground was nominated for both the Agatha and Anthony awards.

Erin Hart is not just an excellent author; she is also known for her gifts as a performer and musician. The last time she read here, she surprised us by transforming our reading space into an Irish cottage with a small peat fire. This is not a reading to miss!
